NEWS: THE JOINERS WINS BEST SMALL VENUE

The Joiners in Southampton has been announced as Britain’s Best Small Venue by NME in association with Jack Daniels’ JD Roots. Since May, when the regional winners were announced, more than 76,000 votes were cast by NME and NME.com readers.

To celebrate, Frank Turner will headline at The Joiners for a special one-off show. He will play the 200-capacity venue on June 24.

Late last year The Joiners announced that they were struggling in the current climate. In the last few months the’ye hosted several benefit gigs where guests included the Frank Turner (now set to return) and The Vaccines.

The ten regional winners in NME’s search for Britain’s Best Small Venue in association with Jack Daniels’ JD Roots were:

1. The Joiners, Southampton
2. The Sugarmill, Stoke
3. The Basement, Ayr
4. Le Pub, Newport
5. Trades Club, Hebdan Bridge
6. Concorde 2, Brighton
7. Band On The Wall, Manchester
8. Arts Centre, Norwich
9. Limelight, Belfast
10. 12 Bar, London

The Joiners takes over the title from 2012’s winner, Tunbridge Wells Forum.
