Orange Rooms will be launching their new Friday night brand “Mixtape Fridays” on the 11th of October, marking it with a special performance from a long-time favourite DJ Krafty Kuts. Following on from that, they’ve got a bunch of headliners and residencies lined up that appear, no matter which way you look at it, to follow no distinguishable trend or theme whatsoever (other than the fact all the acts are awesome and exciting). If variety is what you’re looking for, then Mixtape Fridays at Orange Rooms is for you.

Straight after Krafty Kuts (that’s 7 days later, to be precise) will see the return of MAXIN’. The four back to back DJs (hi guys) will be sending you straight to the golden age of r&b and hip-hop with splashes of cocktail everywhere and the fattest grin on your face. Expect funky music from the late 90s and early 00s and perhaps not-so-funky-but-highly-inebriated singalongers.

Next up, on the 25th October the ever-funky RoskaRoskaRoska will be bringing his bag of tunes to the dance floor. Get a taste of what to expect by tuning in to Rinse FM every Tuesday at 19:00 … or check this out:

Once Roska has been and gone, it’ll be Halloween. As you might have guessed, Orange Rooms will be throwing Halloween-themed parties and on the 1st November the Mixtape Fridays residents Envious Mind & Alex The Kidd will be in the building.

On Friday November 8th there will be a Movember fundraiser featuring NTS DJ Martelo and Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer. Ther’s no telling what kind of music Martelo will play, his NTS shows are varied to say the list. If you’re not sure what Mr B is all about then imagine this: Hip-hop infused with the Queen’s English. That should give you some idea … maybe.

Wow it’s the middle of November already, how did that happen? Anywho, Drums of Death is up next on the 15th. Now I’m not entirely sure what to make of Drums of Death because at some point he seems to have swapped the white mask and scary music for something for much more, erm, palatable(?) … So that’s from fairly dark and somewhat tense techno into stuff featuring the wonderful Yasmin. I’m not saying anything bad at all here, it’s just quite a change! Take a listen to this for a taster:

The 22nd November will see Cool Runnings Reggae with Bossman and Maka Foundation. So that’s reggae thrown into the mix too, I wasn’t kidding about variety huh?

Finally (so far that is), on the 29th November will be DEVolution, a duo hailing from a little place called Southampton. DEVolution is a melting pot of influences collectively rooted in electronic music, which is hardly surprising given the heritage of its two protagonists. Pete Devereux conquered the mainstream once before as half of Artful Dodger, who propelled UK garage from the underground and into the charts and his fellow accomplice is former Size Records artist Tom Devos.

Those paying attention might have noticed that I skipped the 22nd November, stay tuned for more info on that one …
