Charlie’s Vinyl & Pie Night will take place at The Platform Tavern in Southampton this Sunday (and every 2nd Sunday of the month thereafter), hosted by Jam Jar. It’s free entry, kicks off at 6pm, and food is served till 9.
The clue is most definitely in the name here, a night for all vinyl or pie lovers to congregate in one of Southampton’s finest public houses. Every second Sunday of the month, Micky and his furry friend Charlie invite you all to bring your dusty records down to the platform tavern. Whether it be to buy, sell, swap, listen or if you don’t like vinyl then just enjoy the selection of pies… anyone is welcome.
No rules, except for the rules, which are three tracks each over a 20 minute slot… There will even be the opportunity to show off your mixing skills if that’s your bag, if not Micky will be on hand to help you cue up your tracks for everybody to enjoy. With The Platform Tavern’s chefs on hand to serve up a strong selection of homemade “soulful” pies and an eclectic selection of wax being spun on the turntables, this is probably one of the most intriguing nights Southampton has to offer.
The concept of pie and records isn’t new per se, what with Southsea’s Pie & Vinyl ‘record cafe’ just down the road — and with places such as The Cellar regularly hosting pop-up record shops — but it is no doubt a very welcome addition to Southampton.
