The final Saturday of May sees Anime Edge & Dance return to Switch to host their own CUFF Label Party with Sirus Hood and Sion. Sirus Hood has been at CUFF since the start, he was the first producer to put a track out on the label and will be joining Anime Edge & Dance in Ibiza this summer at Sankeys to hold down the CUFF residency. Joining them at Switch will be Soul Divide, and FWD MTN.
Kicking off Switch’s June bookings on Saturday 6th is Lee Foss. Living interchangeably between Los Angeleas and London, Foss has been consistently repping Hot Creations in Southampton, and with a penchant for delivering knockout sets it’s no surprise that Warehouse keep bringing the man back again and again. The booking has been made deliberately to coincide with High Tide’s Garden Party as an official afterparty, and will also feature support from High Tide, ThemAgen, and George Walker
Saturday 13th June marks another developement in Warehouses’ direction. Following the success of the recent appearance from Skepta, it’s encouraging to see Switch showing support for more genres, and having been named as the best grime act of 2014 at the MOBOs, Stormzy is the man for the job. A self made man, Stormzy has built a tight-knit crew of supporters through his impressive freestyles on his YouTube channel, and will be joined by a pair of special guests, as well as Bitr8 & K1R3Y, and FWD MTN.
My Nu Leng & Gotsome are two of most promising production duos to have come out of Bristol in recent years, they’ll be taking over Switch on Saturday 20th. My Nu Leng, otherwise known as Tommy and Jammo, keep a relentless tour schedule, the duo have frequented Southampton, each time to a great reception. The boys have just released their latest EP, Horizons on Chase & Status’ prestigious label MTA. Bitr8 & K1R3Y, and Kreed will be joining them on the decks.
For the final weekend of June, Tough Love will be coming to town on Saturday 27th. Responsible for the poolside anthem ‘So Freakin Tight‘, the pair have an uncanny talent for crafting infectious records. With their sound ticking all the boxes ticked for mass-appeal, the duo could be set to conquer this summer, provided you can stomach their rework of Ginuwine’s ‘Pony‘.
Claude Vonstroke is undoubtedly one of Warehouse’s most reputable bookings to date. Born in Detroit, Barclay Crenshaw now operates Dirtybird recordings from Los Angeles. Southampton has played host to the label’s co-owner Justin Martin on a number of occasions, so it’s about time that we welcome his other half to town. Dirtybird continues to impress with diverse and forward thinking releases, but it was Crenshaw’s own productions like ‘Deep Throat‘ and ‘Who’s Afraid of Detroit‘ that catapulted the label into the spotlight in the first place.
Organisers have also confirmed that we can look forward to a club date from DJ EZ soon. One of the most technically adept DJs in the business, EZ’s set is likely to go down very well considering the response to his performance at Southampton Sounclash.
