Snoop Dogg, Tinie Tempah to appear at Switch Southampton

Southampton nightclub Switch has just lifted the lid on another big name set to play at the venue in the coming weeks. Having announced late last week that Tinie Tempah will be performing at Switch on Thrursday 2nd April, the venue has now revealed that Snoop Dogg will be also be making an appearance in Southampton on Wednesday the 4th March, performing as DJ Snoopadelic. Both events are billed in collaboration with Soundclash Festival, which is set to debut in Southampton on the 2nd May.

Tickets for Tinie Tempah are available now, tickets for Snoop Dogg will go on sale at 7pm this evening.

Snoop Dogg needs no introduction really, his music career began in 1992 when he was discovered by Dr. Dre and since then he’s sold in excess of 30 million albums worldwide. Snoop Dogg will be releasing a new album this spring: Bush. Entirely produced by Pharrell Williams, the album combines retro-futuristic funk with a feel-good mix of R&B and pop, and features some surprise collaborations.

Tinie Tempah is credited with two number one singles, with his debut album reaching the top of the charts too. Across his career, Tinie has collaborated with the likes of Labrinth, Ellie Golding and Wiz Khalifa to name but a few. His second album Demonstration, opened impressively too with lead singles Trampoline, and Children of the Sun also making a recognizable dent in the top tens of the UK charts.

Though many have come to associate the Switch brand with house music rather than commercial chart toppers, this won’t be the first time that the venue has hosted live chart acts, having featured Jess Glynne as part of Southampton Solent’s 2014 Freshers’ Ball. Alongside the successful Warehouse-branded Saturday nights, Switch have time and again proven the success of a variety of student nights at the club, along with the use of ‘big’ names, as the popularity of Waeldstone Raider proved in December last year.

Following such successes Switch are continuing to think outside the box with their bookings, using familiar names and personalities to mix up their calendar. The coming months will see Keeping Up with The Kardashians’ Scott Disick host the ‘Mansion Party‘ on Thursday 5th March, and The Chuckle Brothers make an appearance for St. Patricks Day ‘Big Night Out’ celebrations on Tuesday 17th March.
