Last year (as in last academic year, it was actually in January) Bang Bang relaunched at Junk with a series of parties headlined by a wide selection of the finest DJs that the scene had to offer. Now, for Autumn 2013 the brand will return to Junk on Thursday nights throughout October and into November.

Things get started next week with the return of Zed Bias for a does of those SWAMP 81 sounds. Just below is the recording from his recent set at Outlook Festival featuring the wonderful Chunky. For more about Zed Bias and his music, head over to our dedicated event preview.

Competition: Win TWO TICKETS to see Zed Bias at Junk AND a Zed Bias 12″ (SWAMP025 Furrball/Boiler w/ Paleman) AND the garage anthem Neighbourhood on CD. Like SOTONIGHT on Facebook and leave a comment on this article to be entered into the draw!

Next up on the 10th October is the first of two collaborations with Release. Shogun Audio‘s label manager Friction, arguably one of the biggest names in drum and bass, will be hitting the Junk DJ booth. Friction released his first single in 1998 and has since climbed right to the top of the scene with a regular show on BBC Radio 1 (Sundays, 3-5am). Here’s a 4-deck mix (something he’s known for) taken from one of his shows:

For Halloween, Bang Bang have secured the infamous Skream. You could technically brand Skream as SWAMP 81 like Zed Bias & co, but that would definitely be misplaced as his DJ sets and productions vary extensively outside of that pool of sound. Indeed, his release on SWAMP 81 is very much dubstep and not the kind of Boddika-style sound you might be picturing. Obviously Skream is most well known for his dubstep (Midnight Request Line and his early Skreamizm EPs on Tempa spring to mind) but more recently he has explored other sounds … not that he was ever tied down to dubstep, that’s just what people associated him with. Earlier this year Skream tweeted that he’ll be playing techno, house, and disco at all future shows … but it is a Halloween booking so who knows! Speaking of disco:

The final (for the time being) announcement comes in the form of the second Release collaboration but this time it’s Metalheadz on the table. The showcase will feature S.P.Y, Jubei, Ant TC1, and SP:MC. Metalheadz are currently on Rinse FM each 3rd Wednesday of every month between the hours of 11PM – 1AM, here’s a recent recording feat. Jubei and SP:MC (but no Flowdan):

More details including information on further headliners, support acts, hosts, and second-room artists to follow.

Previous guests to Bang Bang include B.Traits, Andy C, Russ Chimes, Breach, Hannah Wants, Kode 9, Scratcha DVA, Dismantle, A1 Bassline, Jazzy Jeff, Jakwob, DEVolution, Shy FX, Zed Bias (yup), Melé, Todd Edwards, Newham Generals, Boddika, DJ EZ, Mike Delinquent, Breakage, LX One, Koan Sound, Grandmaster Flash, Ben UFO, XXXY, Oneman, Mosca, and Roska.
