MK, Zane Lowe to headline Solent 2014 Freshers’ Ball, AAA Pass now on sale

Southampton Solent Students’ Union (in collaboration with DBP) have just revealed this year’s Freshers’ Fortnight calendar. The star of the show is the Freshers’ Ball, due to take place on the 5th of October at Oceana. Performing at the 2014 Solent Freshers’ Ball will be MK, Zane Lowe, Jess Glynne (live), Toyboy & Robin, Chris Stark, Foor (live), Vicky Pattison (Geordie Shore), and a broad selection of student/local DJs. There will also be a silent disco and a large funfair outside. Entry to the Freshers’ Ball will be included as part of the 2014 AAA Pass, the all-access ticket that grants entry to 15 official Solent SU Freshers’ Fortnight clubnights.

The night’s headliner, MK, is a well made choice. Last year his remix of Storm Queen’s “Look Right Through“, became something of a club staple around the time of last year’s freshers and soon earned itself a place at the top of the UK chart upon release in November. In the time since, MK, born Mark Kinchen, has released a staggering list of new material including originals and along with further high-profile remixes that prove that right now, Kinchen is at the top of his producing game. As if mainstream recognition weren’t testament enough to Kinchen’s success, his previous appearance in Southampton at the Mo Warehouse, last March, sold out six weeks  in advance. Alongside playing the Solent Freshers’ Ball, MK will also appear at SUSU’s Freshers’ Ball. It seems like Southampton really can’t get enough of the American producer, luckily for those still keen to catch MK in Southampton, but wary of risking a foray into volatile Freshers’ territory, MK will proceed on later to the Warehouse, accompanied by Kidnap Kid as part of his ‘My Head is A Jungle’ tour.

As mentioned, entry to the Solent Freshers’ Ball is included as part of the 2014 AAA Pass. The AAA Pass also includes entry to the 2014 Freshers’ Rave (set to be hosted by MistaJam’s Speakerbox brand), the Big Night Out (BNO) t-shirt bar crawl, and ‘Halls Wars’ (set to take place at Oceana and to feature a special guest headliner). While the set price of £50 for the AAA Pass does provide a substantial saving, it’s only worthwhile if the purchaser then goes to several of the included events. As such, tickets for individual events can also be purchased separately (including for the Freshers’ Ball, see above).
