With a background in Garage, Huxley’s sound has morphed into a deeper strain of bass-led house sound over the past few years. Having started DJing at the tender age of 12 and developing a habit of sneaking into raves shortly after, Huxley has been brought up on dance music. Now something of a veteran, Huxley is no stranger to playing at some of the world’s most famous rave venues; he’s billed to support MK later this year when Manchester’s Warehouse Project returns to it’s original home on Store Street. Maribou State have quickly established themselves a firm fan-base after laying down a critically acclaimed mix for blog Hush House. Grabbing mainstream attention last summer thanks to the popularity of their remix of Fatboy Slim’s ‘Praise You’, and regular support from the Radio 1 team, Maribou State are undoubtedly a duo to keep an eye on .
DBP’s Ryan Keary explained his own eagerness to host both Huxley and Maribou State:
Huxley is one of those DJs that everyone should see as you cant pin him to one genre, it makes his sets so exciting whether it be house, garage or techno.
I first saw Maribou State at Snowbombing and they we’re a real festival highlight – ever since then I’ve been waiting for an excuse to put them on a line up and this one was too perfect.
Since the label’s inception in 2009, Hot Creations is regularly branded with numerous praises and labels such as ‘pioneering’, ‘groundbreaking’ and ‘innovative’, thanks to founders, Lee Foss and Jamie Jones’ commitment to discovering and nurturing a group of like-minded, cross-genre artists. Lee Foss himself will take to the decks in Southampton to headline the event, supported by a selection of the label’s talent, in the form of wAFF, and Patrick Topping. wAFF, is famed for his addiction to production, almost inseparable from his laptop, it’s no surprise considering his track Jo Johnson, from his debut EP on Hot Creations ranked in as DJ Mag’s second hottest song of 2012. Patrick Topping has with major dance floor appeal thanks to his ‘Walk On’ EP, and makes a fine addition to the lineup of Hot Creations artists to play at the Warehouse.
Ryan Keary shared his own praise for all three members of the Hot Natured family heading to Southampton:
Lee Foss is still one of my all time favourite DJs. People always seem up for it when Lee is in town, he puts on a serious party both on and off the decks and really lifts a crowd . I’ve known Patrick for a while now, he is one of the most down to earth guys you’d ever meet and is really pushing Hot Creations’ sound forward. wAFF is one of the most under-rated DJ’s kicking about, he played one of the best sets i’ve seen a few months ago and brings so much energy to parties.
Huxley plays at the Mo Warehouse on Friday 1st October, and Hot Creations host the following night, Satuday 1st November. Earlybird tickets for both events will be available soon from DBP.
