Carl Cox’s career took its defining turn in the late 80s as he became an icon of the acid house rave scene. Cox has played some incredible back to back sets in his time including with the likes of Green Velvet and Nic Fanciulli. To that end, Mr Cox took to his Twitter account yesterday to announce his excitement at appearing alongside one of his idols from the TV world in Southampton this September. The tweet, hastily removed by Carl’s management as it broke the strict embargo put in place by the festival organisers, revealed that Carl will be going back-to-back for an extended 3 hour set with Scott Disick, of Keeping Up with the Kardashians fame.
Alongside his appearance on stage with Carl Cox, Scott Disick will also be curating the lineup for his own stage at the festival. We caught up with Ryan Keary — festival organizer — who shared his excitement about handing over creative control to Scott:
We’re pretty sure that Scott Disick won’t actually turn up so it’s probably best if you don’t all buy tickets in advance. If you do, full refunds will be provided in the unlikely event that Scott does perform [sic]at the festival.
Hannah Wants has expressed her excitement to be warming up for the Wealdstone Raider who, in the January issue of DJ Mag, was described by Hannah as being a “total babe”. On the flip-side, Hannah has said she is disappointed that MK was chosen above her to host the festival’s house stage. An understandable reaction given that Hannah usually gets whatever Hannah wants.
Snoop Dogg has added to the drama by rescheduling again, cancelling his May booking at Switch Southampton so that he can make an appearance at Soundclash in September. He’ll be topping the bill for the Snoop Mob Tent, also featuring Snoopadelic, Snoop Lion, and Snoop Cub.
There will be five main stages at the festival; with Carl Cox taking control of one, Disick another, Snoop Dogg the third, and MK the fourth. It will be left to Tracy Beaker and co to join the Chuckle Brothers in hosting the fifth and final stage: The CBBC Tent.
The September 2015 edition of Southampton Soundclash is expected to surpass previous records and sell out within minutes. Super Early Bird, Early Bird, First Release, Third Release, Final Release, Second Final Release, and VIP tickets all go on sale this coming Monday at 9am. If you’re unfortunate enough to miss out on tickets there’s always Sounclash 3, 4, and 5 all coming later in the Autumn.
