Emotive House return to The Social with DJ Spen

Emotive House are set to takeover Southampton’s newest venue The Social yet again on August Bank holiday Sunday. The house collective will be putting both floors of the new events space to the test with a headline set from Baltimore’s DJ Spen on the 30th August.

Growing up in Baltimore in the US, DJ Spen began his DJ career at the early age of 13, producing mix shows for his local radio station WEBB AM. He joined the Basement Boys in 1989 and would then go on to set up their record label in 1994, and the Jasper Street Company. Over the years in between DJ Spen has built an extensive catalog of productions, ranging from his own soulful output on Quantize Recordings to his adept remix abilities. as well as holding down his weekly radio show the MuthaFunkin Jam Session.

The house collective recently returned to the Southampton scene have been putting on parties for well over a decade and first brought DJ Spen to Southampton back in 2005. Joining the Emotive crew are Emotive DJs Ashley Wilson, Steve Luke, Neil Maclean & Friends. They’ll be kicking things off at 4pm in The Social’s laid back dive bar, before taking it upstairs at 8pm to the newly refurbished Attik (formerly RoXX).
