Ben Pearce has just announced his very own Sextape Series . . . No, the Manchester born DJ and producer has not undertaken a radical career change, but has unveiled plans for a new series of mixes and club dates. Starting off with a launch party in his hometown of Manchester on December 5th, Pearce will be taking the series on tour to a number of the UKs major cities, including Southampton. The Sextape Series will be stopping of in Southampton on the 28th February, and will be hosted by Junk, winner of Mix Mag’s Best Small Club Award last year.
Ben Pearce’s output is commonly categorized as deep house thanks to his 2012 hit ‘What I Might Do‘ on MTA, a track that certainly made itself known in even the most mainstream clubs. There is, however, far more to the producer: He has a variety of releases to his name on labels such as Moda Black and Under The Shade along with a variety of collaborations with the likes of Black Orange Juice and Real Connoisseur. As a DJ, Pearce likes to reference his varied musical background in metal, hip/hop, funk and soul. He was even sporting a Metallica tee on his last visit to the South-Coast at The Somerley Tea Party.
In a recent interview with SBTV Pearce siad “I’d hate to be a producer where you’d know what to expect every time… I do the unexpected, and do something different.”
Indeed the series does seem to be a new approach for the DJ and producer, who confesses that he typically prefers not to plan his sets to much, instead playing to the room or venue. The Sextape Series, however will see Pearce shining a particular spotlights on his favorite funk, soul and disco records.
The first in the series of mixes is already up on Ben’s soundcloud, along with a free download link. The full list of Sextape Series tour dates and locations can be seen below:
