The legendary Seth Troxler’s record label, Visionquest last made an appearance at Junk, Southampton over a year ago, with the main man himself spinning house and techno slammers until the early hours. This latest Halloween showcase is shaping up to be nothing less spectacular, with two of the label’s central figures gracing the city with their awesome presence …

Visionquest started life in Detroit, Michigan in 2010 and has been helping put the motor city back on the electronic music map ever since. The most prominent collection of house and techno producers to appear out of Detroit in generations, with Seth Troxler, Lee Curtiss, Ryan Crosson and Shaun Reeves at its core, the label has since expanded to nurture the likes of Maceo Plex, Subb-An, Pillow Talk and Tale of Us, furthering their truly ‘visionary’ take on electronic music.

Now based in the European electronic music Mecca that is Berlin, the quartet continues to produce innovative new sounds, both together and independently. Visionquest have their roots in Motown, and draw housey vibes from forerunners like Theo Parrish and Moodyman, as well as being influenced by the edgy and liberal atmosphere of their new home-from-home.

Two of the label’s four towering pillars of production brilliance, in the form of Lee Curtiss and Ryan Crosson will be spinning wax well into the early morning (6 am!). We might even be lucky enough to witness one of their notorious back-to-back live sets, as seen at Fabric, London and Movement, Detroit …

The label’s leading lady Laura Jones, who exploded onto the house scene in 2011, will be making an appearance. Her track “Live A Little” was included on the 2011 “Visionquest Spring” sampler, and her breakthrough single “Love In Me” on Leftroom Records, stormed the Beatport chart and held the no.1 spot for several consecutive weeks. Her more recent works with Visionquest include the heady “Every Thought”, and the more bold and techy “Lose Myself“.

Junk also welcomes back long standing resident, and favorite of the Junk family, South Coast born Luca Pilato, who’s sounds have been filling out the club since 2006. Holding down the decks alongside the likes of Seth Troxler, Waifs & Strays, and Claude VonStroke in 2012, he will undoubtedly be a sound addition to the already phat line-up.
