AKA AKA ROAR, who recently brought Levon Vincent to RoXX in Southampton, are running their final party at LIFE (Brighton) on the 21st June. They’ve been based at LIFE for three years, hosting a plethora of DJs ranging from Theo Parrish and Julio Bashmore through to Space Dimension Controller and Blawan, via Will Saul and George FitzGerald … to name a few. After June they’ll be moving to a new venue (presumably in Brighton, but we don’t have any details about that just yet). For the celebratory/commiserative party they have asked Boxed Sound and NO LOGO to host The Garage i.e. Room 3.
As for the main room, they’ve got a bunch of headliners that are enough to make any Southampton-head just a little bit jealous (although we have seen a couple of them in Southampton already thanks to Boxed Sound). First up is Brighton’s very own Leon Vynehall, a DJ/producer that has been associated with AKA AKA ROAR right from the start. Following Leon will be a Bristolian making his debut in Brighton: Kowton, who you make recognise from a recent Boxed Sound shindig with Addison Groove. Next up will be Panorama Bar’s Nick Höppner, also making his debut in Brighton. And finally, Midland — who’s about to launch his own record label Graded — will be making his return to AKA AKA ROAR for a headline appearance.
Room 2 will see past, present, and future (?) AKA AKA ROAR residents spinning all night and, as mentioned, those in The Garage will be serenaded by the Boxed Sound and NO LOGO resident DJs.
This is definitely not the end of AKA AKA ROAR. For one thing, they’re hosting one of the Dimensions Festival boat parties and for another they hint at reappearing at LIFE once or twice over the summer on their Facebook event.
