For their second collaboration, NO LOGO and Boxed Sound are throwing a launch party for Dimensions Festival at The Cellar. As you might expect, the headliners they’ve got (Eliphino and Peverelist) are names that will also be appearing at the festival itself, coming this September in Croatia. In fact pretty much all of the DJs that both NO LOGO and Boxed Sound have brought to Southampton over the last couple of years will be playing at Dimensions (if they haven’t done so already). So, whoever came up with the idea of getting NO LOGO and Boxed Sound to host a Dimensions launch party certainly has the right idea: The three are perfectly matched.
Headliner #1 is Eliphino, who has a fairly small back catalogue but as your girlfriend had to assure you: Size isn’t everything. His hip-hop infused productions leak emotion all over the dance-floor (I don’t even know what that’s supposed to mean, but anyway) and have earned him a place on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Electric compilation as well as on the second release from the Manchester-based Hoya:Hoya collective. His biggest release to date, however, is most probably More Than Me which was put out by the always on-point Somethink Sounds imprint. Take a listen below, if your head isn’t nodding within the first minute then you should continue listening and start nodding your head.
Headliner #2 is Peverelist, a Bristolian producer, DJ, and record label owner. He heads up the influential Punch Drunk Records which was (and still is) instrumental in the development of the Bristol music scene. They pride themselves in releasing music from artists directly linked to the city such as Guido, Kahn, and Peverelist himself. Tom Ford (Peverelist) has also put out records via Hessle Audio, Tectonic and Apple Pips; starting with dubstep and then moving towards the techno side of things. That’s not to say his music career started with dubstep though, he has well documented history in drum ‘n’ bass and jungle through the ’90s. More recently he started up a new imprint dubbed Livity Sound which has seen a few of his solo tracks and collaborations under the somewhat unimaginatively-named alter-ego Pev. Rest assured however, the music in question is anything but unimaginative. You can stream a recent Pev & Kowton track below to demonstrate this.
In keeping with the festival theme, NO LOGO and Boxed Sound are also throwing a daytime pre-party and BBQ at The Cellar. In order to facilitate this they’ve partnered with MVMNT to supply the music and with The Peng Burger Company to supply the food. If you’re one of the innumerable students who have just bid farewell to far-too-much-effort-dissertations and oh-god-what-is-this-exams then you now know exactly how you’ll be spending your Friday afternoon. I thoroughly recommend The El Matador, incidentally.
Going back to the evening’s entertainment: CULT will be running things downstairs. Reading into the etymology of their name yields slightly scary results (a select group of people sharing the same beliefs who’s practices are considered sinister by others), but the key thing is that over recent month’s they’ve been showcasing the finest up and coming deep/tech house producers and DJ’s from the local region and beyond. Speaking of which, they invited NO LOGO resident State along to play at one of their parties in Rhino recently. The atmosphere on the night there was excellent and it’s really good to now see NO LOGO returning the gesture.
There are still some details yet to be confirmed, but you can expect music throughout the day and night from the NO LOGO, Boxed Sound, CULT, and MVMNT residents.

Dimensions is the sister to Outlook Festival. The festivals take place in quick succession (quick enough so that you can attend both in one go) at the same venue in Croatia. Dimensions draws on the deeper end of the electronic spectrum for their lineups, exhibiting the finest in techno, house, deep dubstep, drum & bass and more. They claim to have a higher technical specification of sound systems than you will find at any comparably-sized festivals, which is ideal for the styles of music that they’re putting on. With a selection of arenas ranging from the underground dungeons of abandoned forts to open-air beach settings, Dimensions is the ideal festival for any electronic music lover. The unbelievable lineup features Model 500, Theo Parrish, Mala, and Ben UFO … just to name a few. Here’s a highlight’s video from last year’s festival:
