RoXX have partnered with Josie & Rob da Bank to throw a warm up party for the wonderful Bestival. This isn’t just any old warm up party though, it’ll be kicking off with an evening boat party on HMS Bestival and finishing up in RoXX. The best part about all this isn’t that Duke Dumont is headlining, it’s the fact that he’ll be headlining twice: Once on the boat and then again a little bit later at the after party!
Duke Dumont (Adam Dyment) has been releasing music since 2007. He has a few EPs on Turbo Recordings, mixed FABRICLIVE.51, and has produced remixes for the likes of the Mystery Jets, Bonobo, and Beardyman. 2012 was a pretty big year for Duke Dumont: His music was starting to be played on prime-time evening radio and he secured official remixes of AlunaGeorge’s Your Drums, Your Love and Santigold’s The Keepers. However, 2013 has completely blown 2012 out of the water. Duke Dumont’s single Need U (100%), featuring vocals from Sierra Leonean-born British singer-songwriter A*M*E, topped the UK Singles Chart in April.
Off the back of his number one single Duke Dumont is now enjoying international fame. He’s playing all over the world and come June he will have just concluded a tour of North America. Having him down here for this Bestival warm up should make for a pretty good party indeed.
No word yet on the rest of the lineup. More on that as it comes.
HMS Bestival is the theme for this year’s festival at Robin Hill country park on the Isle of Wight, marking their tenth edition. Bestival has been held annually in late summer since 2004, growing from from just 10000 to a 55000 attendance in merely a couple of years. The event is organized by DJ and producer Rob da Bank along with his wife Josie and is an off-shoot of his Sunday Best record label and club nights.
This year’s headline live acts include Elton John, Snoop Dogg, Fatboy Slim, Franz Ferdinand, The Flaming Lips and The Knife. Headline DJs include Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Annie Mac, Seth Troxler, and Julio Bashmore. There are of course many hundreds more live acts and DJs spread across several stages, the full lineup is available on Bestival’s website.
