What’s on: New Year’s Eve 2014-2015 in Southampton

Arguably the biggest night out of the year, New Year’s Eve always has a lot to offer in terms of nightlife, and Southampton is no exception. As expected there’s plenty of choice from Southampton’s clubs and promoters, and among the selection there should certainly be something to please everyone, no matter their preference. So if you’re planning on heading out on the town, here’s our rundown of what Southampton has to offer.

Tipped by Mixmag as their number one New Years’ Eve party in the UK, Junk are hosting a very special night at their London Road venue. Junk are evidently keen to retain their reputation as Britain’s Best Small Club, with an impressive lineup of world class underground talent featuring Darius Syrrosian, East End Dubs, and the main event, Moon Harbour label boss Matthias Tannzman. Junk will be taking you right through until the early hours, with the party going strong until 6am.

Thanks to the heavy demand for their NYE party at Switch with Chase & Status, Warehouse announced a second event at Attik (formerly RoXX) with Jaguar Skills. Notorious for his rapid fire mixes and inspired mashups, Jaguar Skills’ prowess on the decks are undisputed. Warehouses’ second NYE party runs from 10pm till 5am on New Years’ day, with Jag putting in a 2 hour set and supported by some special guests.

Also in Bedford place: Buddha, Tokyo and Orange Rooms are coming together to host a street party from 6pm. Hot tubs and Karaoke can be found at Orange Rooms, along with a live band at midnight. There’s also pop up bars and street food outside between the venues, as well as a silent disco marquee. Buddha will be open longest with a late licence to take revelers through till 6am.

Radio 1 mainstay, Danny Howard, is making an appearance at Oceana, Southampton’s superclub on West Quay Road. As well as a DJ, Howard is also a producer in his own right with a number of releases on Spinnin’ Records. As host of the Dance Anthems show on Radio 1, expect the biggest commercial dance tunes. Oceana also have a fairground in the club car park with rides and stalls.

Following a recent closure of their own venue, Unit, will be hosting their NYE event at Home Ballroom (formerly Aura in Bedford Place). Southampton’s regular promoters of alternative nights out, Unit are hosting a Bootleggers’ Ball with Caleb Shomo from Beartooth behind the decks, they’ll have you covered from 9pm through till 4am.

Cafe Parfait are also putting on a themed party, with their Hollywood styled, A Night at the Oscars. With doors opening at 10, the club will be open until 6am to let you see in the New Year in style.

Down at the Engine Rooms (formerly the Mo’club) will be Together We Rise, a night presented by Hakkoda and featuring Darren Styles, Brookes Bros, Gammer, Andy Whitby, and many more.
