So, Uni’s over and obligations and responsibilities go out the window for summer to begin. And what better way to while away your time than getting blitzed out of your mind in a muddy field somewhere listening to some great music, or something similar. That’s right, it’s festival season and we here at SOTONIGHT have scoured the land to find you the best selection of local, national and international festivals for you to throw your hard earned cash at.

Here is the SOTONIGHT 2013 Festival Roundup, continuing with festivals within Blighty but a bit further from our delightful [sic]little city …

When: 8th — 9th June

Where: Heaton Park, Manchester

Tickets: Resident Advisor

After the last couple of years bursting at the seams in Platt Fields, the extra space at Heaton (one of the largest municipal parks in Europe) is going to give the Parklife team that extra room to create an even wider spread of madness and entertainment across the site. Larger dance arenas, more spectacular production, more hidden nooks and crannies. More of everything that makes Parklife what it is and Manchester’s official start to the summer.

Headliners: Plan B, Example, The Maccabees, Rita Ora, The Horrors

SOTONIGHT Top Picks: Maya Jane Coles, Cyril Hahn, Lapalux, Bondax

When: 16th — 18th August

Where: Funkirk Estate, Skipton, North Yorkshire

Tickets: Resident Advisor

Still an event in its infancy, August 2013 will mark the second proper Beacons festival after it was cancelled due to flooding in 2011. For the second year running, the festival will be held in the picturesque, flood-free Funkirk Estate in the Yorkshire Dales and promises a unique blend of music; bringing together the punkier side of the contemporary Northern music scene with modern electronic music staples, including pioneers of the genre and acts which have recently broken through. A handful of more chilled-out artists who blur the line between electronic and acoustic music are also thrown into the mix.

Headliners: Bonobo, Local Natives, Django Django

SOTONIGHT Top Picks: John Talabot, Theo Parrish B2B Andres, Gold Panda, Bicep, T. Williams, Machine Drum, Only Real

When: 25th — 28th July

Where: Huntingdon, Cambridge
