JUNK presents DFTD (Defected): Flashmob + Sonny Fodera
18.Oct.14 @ 22:00 - 04:00£10
Although riding favourably high upon the wave of our current house resurgence Defected is the label that has been there from day one. 15 years later and still going strong the label has built an unparalleled body of releases from some of the biggest artists in the world. After one and a half decades in the game, Defected shows no sign of slowing down, maintaining a hugely energised output of releases and events from the likes of Motor City Drum Ensemble, Catz N’ Dogz, MK, Huxley, Loco Dice and any other hugely influential artists that you care to mention.
Not content with claiming a truly authoritative presence throughout the past two decades of the UK House scene, Defected have now firmly set their sights upon commanding the underground landscape well into the future. DFTD refocuses the labels tireless attention towards fresh and undiscovered talent from around the globe, even occasionally dropping a jolly good curveball from artists of slightly more establishment.
Flying the brand spanking DFTD flag will none other than Flashmob, one of the most acclaimed, instantly recognisable production groups in house music. Riding a tidal wave of success generated by the ravenous response to singles ‘Brick House’, ‘Ninety Five’ and – most significantly – ‘Need In Me’, Flashmob have carved an indelible niche for themselves, crafting sublimely unpretentious house music, the widespread appeal of which has been near unprecedented. Not many people’s records get spun by both Kerri Chandler at Pandemonium and Pete Tong at Pacha in the same season; the fact that Flashmob can count themselves as producers in this group goes some way to showing the global underground appeal of the records they make.
Joining them will be Australian house prodigy Sonny Fodera, a young man who has amassed quite the impressive reputation over the last couple of years. Gathering prestigious fans all over the globe, including none over than Chicago House legend Cajmere (of ‘Time For The Perculator’ fame), who incidentally snapped him up for a series of releases on his equally legendary Cajual label. Now residing in slightly more accessible Ibizan shores, the young Aussie is shaping up to become a rather exciting prospect on the underground scene.
