Raygun and Release have just announced four parties taking place in January, February, and March 2014. Headliners include S.P.Y, Phaeleh, Pharoahe Monch, and Dub Phizix and all the events will be taking place at RoXX.

We’re running a competition in association with Raygun and Release and there are some serious prizes up for grabs!

The first event is a Metalheadz takeover on the 17th January with S.P.Y, Jubei and DLR. Metalheadz is a pioneering drum and bass record label founded in 1994 by Kemistry & Storm and Goldie. It has (unsurprisingly) released music from all three headliners as well as from just about anyone who’s anyone in the drum and bass scene. Support on the night will come from Release residents Gerra & Stone and it’ll be hosted by Joe Raygun himself and Influx.

Next up is a Horizon Festival launch party featuring Phaeleh, Foreign Concept, and Barely Legal on the 14th February. Last year saw the arrival of a new major player on the snow festival scene in the shape of Horizon: A hedonistic, yet surprisingly affordable 6-day party that returns to Bansko, Bulgaria from 8-14th March 2014. Last year’s launch party was hosted by No Logo and featured Loefah. This year you’ve got three headliners as well as support from Gerra & Stone, Depth, and Levi Jules.

The third party will be headlined by Pharoahe Monch and is presented by Raygun and Route To Roots. Date for the diary: 23rd February. Pharoahe Monch has a reputation throughout the hip-hop world as one of the best MCs in the game, originally a member of the hip-hop group Organized Konfusion he made his name as a solo artist and his track “Simon Says” has one of the most distinct beats ever. A versatile artist, Troy has switched between completely raucous hip-hop such as the aforementioned track to featuring on tracks with the likes of Mos Def where a gentler but infinitely more intricate flow is showcased.

And finally: The 28th March will see Dub Phizix taking to the stage with resident MC Strategy. The full lineup is: Dub Phizix & Strategy, Seven, Jman, Split Prophets, Gerra & Stone, DJ Jives, and Dub Concept b2b Bobby Flex.

Release has been on the Southampton scene for four years and previous guests include Andy C, Friction, Calibre, Alix Perez, Icicle, Commix, and a whole host of other key names in the drum and bass arena. They’ve run a number of nights at The Cellar and Junk and have put on record label showcases for the likes of Critical Music, and Soul:ution. 2014 will see them rekindling a partnership with Raygun (previously Raygun Youth) at RoXX. Raygun, in much the same vein as as Release, also started at The Cellar and has played host to innumerable figures from the drum and bass, dubstep, and hip-hop scenes.
