After 13 years of calling Robin Hill on the Isle of White its home, Bestival is set to move to the mainland for 2017. Bestival’s creator Rob Da Bank has announced that the team have submitted a licence application for the Lulworth Estate in Dorset, the site of Bestival’s family oriented sister-festival, Camp Bestival.
In the statement announcing the news, organiser Rob da Bank also added: “We remain fully committed to supporting the Isle of Wight through music, charities and projects and will be giving Islanders an exclusive ticket offer for the new site. Plus we’re working towards a new event for the Island. Watch this space…”
The move follows a difficult year for the festival, in which lower ticket sales noticeably impacted the event. Shortly following the weekend da Bank commented that “Festival land has changed a lot, more competition, a wobbly economy etc, and for whatever reason many festivals have not sold as well.” He assured fans that changes would be made in response to feedback to ensure that the team delivered their best festival yet in 2017.
Bestival is due to take place next year from 7th – 10th September, headliners have already been confirmed, and a number of new stages and installations can be expected.
